Which of the following is not true for the equilibrium reaction
`N_2(g)+O_2(g)hArr 2NO(g)`, `DeltaH=180kJmol^(-1)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) When volume of vessel increases, pressure will decrease. As the forward reaction is accompanied by increase in number of moles, the decrease in the pressure will favour forward reaction (according to Le Chatelier principle).
(ii) As `DeltaH` is + ve, the reaction is endothermic, decrease of temperature will favour the direction in which heat is released i.e., backward reaction.
