If the roots of `9x^(2) - 2x +7 = 0` are 2 more than the roots of `ax^(2) + bx + c = 0`, then 4a - 2b + c can be

A

-2

B

7

C

9

D

10

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

`f(x) = ax^(2) + bx + c = 0`
`f(x-2) = 9x^(2) - 2x + 7 = 0`
`:' a(x-2)^(2) + b(x-2) + c = 9(x)^(2) - 2x +7`
`a(x^(2) - 4x +4) + bx - 2b + c = 9x^(2) - 2x + 7`
`ax^(2) - (4x-b) x + 4a - 2b +c = 9x^(2) -2x + 7`
`rArr 4a - 2b + c = 7`
