Explain the fuctional significance of lymphatic system ?

Lymphatic system is formed of lymph, lymph vessels and lymph nodes.
(i) Lymph acts as middle man between blood and body cells and helps in exchange of materials between them.
(ii) Lymph vessels transport absorbed fats from intestine to venous blood.
(iii) Lymph nodes are sites of formation of immunity providing lymphocytes. These also have phagocytes and macrophages which remove microbes and cellular debris respectively.
