What is meant by systole? What happens to mitral valve and related blood flow during ventricular systole?

(i) Systole is the contraction of heart wall.
(ii) During ventricular systole, mitral or bicuspid valve closes and checks the backflow of blood from left ventricle to left auricle. So the oxygenated blood enters the aortic arch and is supplied to various organs of body.
