Find the inclination from X - axis of th...

Find the inclination from X - axis of the tangent at point (a, 2a) of the curve `y^(2) = 4ax`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`y^(2) = 4ax`
`rArr 2y (dy)/(dx) = 4a`
`rArr (dy)/(dx) = (2a)/y`
At point (a, 2a), the slope of tangent
` m= ((dy)/(dx))_"(a, 2a)" = (2a)/(2a) = 1`
`rArr tan theta = 1`
`rArr theta = 45^(@)`
Therefore tangent makes an angle of `45^(@)` from X-axis.
