Why short wave communication over long distance are not possible by surface wave propagation ?

Explanation

For radio - communication of short wavelength `(lambda` less than `200m` or frequency greater than `1500kHz),` sky waves are only used. The ground waves on bending round the corner of the earth loses good amount of energy due to absorption and their intensity falls to a very small value. Hence short waves are undetectable in surface wave propaagation.
