A closed cylindrical container, the radius of which is 7 cm and height 10 cm is to be made out of a metal sheet. Find
(a) the area of metal sheet required .
(b) the volume of the cylinder made.
(c ) the cost of painting the lateral surface of the cylinder at the rate of Rs. 4 per `cm^(2)`.

(a) The area of the metal sheet required = The total surface area of the cylinder `=2pi(r+h)=2xx(22)/(7)xx7(7+10)=44(17)=748 cm^(2)`.
(b) Volume`=pi r^(2)h=(22)/(7) xx 7 xx 7 xx10=22 xx 70 = 1540 cm^(3).`
(c ) To find the cost of painting the lateral surface, we need to find the curved (lateral) surface area.
` :. LSA=2 pi r h=2xx (22)(7) xx 7 xx 10=440 cm^(2).`
Cost of painting `=440 xx 4= Rs. 1760.`
