In a game, a man wins Rs 100 if he gets 5 or 6 on a throw of a fair die and loses Rs 50 for getting any other number on the die. If he decides to throw the die either till he gets a five or a six or to a maximum of three throws, then his expected gain/loss (in rupees) is: (a) 400/3 gain (b) 400/9 loss (c) 0 (d) 400/3 loss

A man is known to speak truth 3 out of 4 times. He throws a die and reports that it is a six. Find the probability that it is actually a six.

A person throws two fair dice. HE wins ₹ 15 for throwing a doublet (same numbers on the two dice), wins ₹ 12 when the throw results in the sum of 9, and losses ₹ 6 for any other outcome on the throw. Then, the expected gain/loss (in ₹) of the person is

A man speaks truth 3 out of 4 times. He throws a die and reports that it is a six. What is the probability that is a six?

A six sided die is marked '2' on one face, '3' on two of its faces, and '4' on remaining three faces. The die is thrown twice. If X denotes the total score in two throws, find the values of the random variable and number of points in its inverse images.

Consider a game where the player tosses a six sided fair die. If the face that comes up is 6, the player wins Rs. 36, otherwise he loses Rs. k^(2) , where k is the face that comes up k = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}. The expected amount to win at this game in Rs. is

There are two die A and B both having six faces. Die A has three faces marked with 1 , two faces marked with 2 , and one face marked with 3 . Die B has one face marked with 1 , two faces marked with 2 , and three faces marked with 3 . Both dices are thrown randomly once. If E be the event of getting sum of the numbers appearing on top faces equal to x and let P(E) be the probability of event E , then P(E) is maximum when x equal to

There are two die A and B both having six faces. Die A has three faces marked with 1, two faces marked with 2, and one face marked with 1, two faces marked with 2, and one face marked with 3. Die B has one face marked with 1, two faces marked with 2, and three faces marked with 3. Both dices are thrown randomly once. If E be the event of getting sum of the numbers appearing on top faces equal to x and let P(E) be the probability of event E, then When x = 4, then P(E) is equal to
