Some so called doctors claim that their medicines provide 100% guarantee for getting a son or a daughter according to the wish of the parent. How do you react to such claims on the basis of your knowledge of genetics? Give a suitable explanation.

The claim is not correct, because sex of the foetus is determined by the sex chromosomes. Human females are homogametic and produce only one type of eggs whereas the males are heterogametic and produce two 126 types of sperms. The sex of the foetus depends upon the type of sperm that fertilises the egg.
