The Nilgiri Tahr can be conserved by two ways viz. In-situ conservation and Ex - situ conservation.
In-situ conservation : Conservation of animals within natural or human made ecosystem is known as In - situ conservation. Eg. Protected areas, Biosphere reserves etc.
Ex-situ conservation : The conservation of animals outside their habitats like zoos, gene banks etc is known as ex-situ conservation.
