A boy sits near the edge of revolving circular dise
(i) What will be the change in the motion of a disc?
(ii) If the boy starts moving from edge to the center of the disc, what will happen?

Text Solution

As we know L=L omega`=constant if the boy sits on the edge of revolving disc, its I will be increased in turn it reduces angular velocity.
(ii) If the boy starts moving towards the center of the disc, its I will decrease in turn that increases its angular velocity.

Read the following paragraph carefully and answer the following: Tie a stone to one end of a string. Take the other end in your hand and rotate the string so that the stone moves along a circle. As long as we are holding the string, we are pulling the stone towards us i.e. towards the centre of the circle and are appliying a force towards it. The force stops acting on it if we release the string. In this case, the stone will fly off along a straight line which is the tangent to the circle at the position of the stone when the string is released, because that the directionn of its velocity at that instant of time. You may recall a similar activity in which a 5 rupee coin kept on a rotating circular disc flies off the disc along the tangent to the disc. Thus, a force acts on any object moving along a circle and it is directed towards the centre of the circle. This is called the Centripetal force. What happens if the string is released?

The planet Mars has two moons, phobos and delmos. (i) phobos has a period 7 hours, 39 minutes and an orbital radius of 9.4 xx 103 km. Calculate the mass of mars. (ii) Assume that earth and mars move in circular orbits around the sun, with the martian orbit being 1.52 times the orbital radius of the earth. What is the length of the martian year in days ?

IN a typical Indian Bugghi(a luxury cart drawn by horses), a wooden plate is fixed on the rear on which one person can sit. A bugghi of mass 200 kg is moving at a speed of 10 km/h. As it overtakes a school boy walking at a speed of 4 km/h,. the boy sits on the wooden plate. If the mass of the boy is 25 kg, what will be the new velocity of the bugghi?

If the candle is moved close to the mirror, what will be the position of the screen ?

The pamban sea Bridge is a railway bridge of length about 2065 m constructed on the palkstrait, which connects the Island town of Ramerswaram to Mandapam, the main land of India. The Bridge is restricted to a uniform speed of only 12.5 m/s If a train of length 560 m starts at the entry point of the bridge from Mandapam, then (i) Find as equation of the motion of the train . (ii) When does the engine touch Island (iii) When does the last coach cross the point of the bridge (iv) What is the time taken by a train to cross the bridge.
