The fundamental frequency of a closed or...

The fundamental frequency of a closed organ pipe is equal to the first overtone of an open organ pipe. If the length of the open pipe is 60 cm, What is the length of the closed pipe?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For closed organ pipe , 3rf harmonics = `(3v)/(4l)`
For open organ pipe , fundamental frequency , = `(v)/(2l.)`
Given , `(3v)/(4l) = (v)/(2l.)`
`l. = (4l)/(3 xx 2) = (4l)/(6)`
l = 20 cm `l. = (4 xx 20)/(6)`
`l. = 13.33 ` cm
