The displacement y of a wave travelling ...

The displacement y of a wave travelling in the x- direaction is given by `y = 10^(-4) sin (600t -2x + pi//3)`
Where x is expreseend in metres and t is seconds. What is the speed of the wave motion (in `ms^(-1)`) ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`y = 10^(-4) sin(600t - 2x + pi/3) and y = a sin (omegat -kx +pi/3)`
`:.omega = 600 red s^(-1),k = 2 red^(-1)m`
`v = omega/k= 600/2 = 300ms^(-1)`
