A ball is thrawn downward from a height of 30m with a velocity of` 10 ms^(-1)` . Determine the velocity with which the ball strikes the ground by using law of conservation of energy.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Height from which the ball is dropped = 30 m
Velocity with which the ball is dropped =`10 ms^(-1)`
According to law of conservation of energy,
Gain in kinetic energy = Loss in potential energy
For bodies falling down `v62 = u^2 + 2gh `
` v^2 = (10)^2 + 2 xx 9.8 xx 30 = 688`
` v = 26.23 ms^(-1)`
