At what height, the value of g is same as at a depth of ` R/2` ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

At depth ` = R/2` , value of acceleration due to gravity ,
` g. = g (1 - ( R )/(2R) ) = g/2`
At hight x ` g. = g (1 - (2x)/(R ) )`
` therefore g (1 - (2x)/( R) ) = g/2`
` 1/2 = (2x)/( R ) rArr x = R/4`
