Light travelling through tranparent oil ...

Light travelling through tranparent oil enters in to glass of refractive index 1.5. If the refractive index of glass with repect to the oil is 1.25, what is the refractive index of the oil?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Give: `n_(go) = 1.25 and n_(g) = 1.5`
Refractive index of glass with respect to oil, `n_(gn) = (n_(g))/(n_(o))`
Refracting for refractive index of oil, `n_(o) = (n_(g))/(n_(gu))=(1.5)/(1.25)=1.2`
The refractive index oil is `n_(o)` = 1.2
