Oxygen is released during light reactions by the spliting of water molecules using the energy obtain from sunlight . Except certain plants performing Crassulacen Acid Metabolism (CAM) all the other plants/ trees do not release oxygen during the night time . In CAM palnts the stomata are open aonly during night, at this time they fix `CO_(2)` with the help of PEP and produce oxaloacetic acid and release oxygen . EXample : Agave , Kalanchose and OPunita.
