Detritus food chain is common in all type of ecosystem . In detritus food chain, the dead remains of plant and animals or their excreta are broken down by detrivores and the organic and inorganic substances are returned back to environment. Thus maintaining the company of various biogeochemical cycles. Also Microbes growing on detritus makes the soil nutritious for consumers.
