Male sterility found in pearly maize (Sorgum vulgare) is the best example for mitochondrial cytoplasmic inheritance . So it is called cytoplasmic male sterility. In this, male sterility is inherited maternally. The gene for cytoplasmic male sterility is found in the mitochondrial DNA.
