Why is invar is used in making a clock pendulum or spring to oscillate ?

Text Solution

Invar as alloy of Ni and steel has extremly low thermal expansion so the change in length in summer and winter will be very small change. So the time period of oscillation will be very small. Hence the clock gives almost the correct time.
