Brain is covered by three connective tissue membrane or meninges.
(a) Duramater, which is the outermost thick fibrous membrane.
(b) Arachnoid membrane, which is the middle thin vascular membrane providing web like cushion.
(c ) Piamater, which is the inner most, thin delicate membrane richly supplied with blood. Meningeal membranes protect the brain from mechanical injury.
