The ceiling of a long hall is 25 m high....

The ceiling of a long hall is 25 m high. What is the maximum horizontal distance that a ball thrown with a speed of `40 ms^(-1)` can go without hitting the ceiling of the hall ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Maximum height `=(u^(2) sin^(2) theta)/(2g)`
`25=(40xx40xx sin ^(2) theta)/(2xx9.8)`
or `sin theta =0.5534 rArr theta=33.6^(@)`
`R=(u^(2) sin theta)/(g)`
`=(40xx40 sin 2xx33.6^(@))/(9.8)`
`=(40xx40xx0.921)/(9.8) (sin 67.2^(@) =0.921)`
`=150.5 m`
