Show that the kinetic energy of the particle moving in a magnetic field remains constant

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

It will remain same, because the work done is zero for a charged particle moving in magnetic field as magnetic force is perpendicular to the motion of particle.

A particle is moving in a uniform magnetic field, then

There is no change in the energy of a charged particle moving in a magnetic field although a magnetic force is acting on it .

Assertion: The energy of charged particle moving in uniform magnetic field does not change. Reason: Work done by magnetic field on the charge is zero.

Assertion : The kinetic energy does not change when a particle moves in uniform magnetic field. Reason : The velocity of the particle is not affected by magnetic field.
