If atomic mass of carbon was set at 100 u, what would be the value of Avogadro's number ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Avogadro number would be the number of atoms in 100 g of carbon.
12 g of carbon contains `6.022 xx 10^(23)` atoms
then 100 g of carbon would contain atoms
`=(6.022 xx 10^(23) xx 100)/12=5.01 xx 10^(24)` atoms.
