Calculate the mass precent of different ...

Calculate the mass precent of different elements present in sodium sulphate `(Na_(2)SO_(4))`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Molar mass of `Na_(2)SO_(4)`
`=2 xx "At. Mass of Na" + "At. Mass of S" + 4 xx "At. Mass of O"`
`=2 xx 23/0 + 32 + 4 xx 16 = 142`
Mass % of sodium `=(2 xx 23)/142 xx 100 = 32.39%`
Mass % of sulphur `=32/142 xx 100 = 22.53%`
Mass % of oxygen `=(4 xx 16)/142 xx 100 = 45.07%`
