Calculate the wavelength, frequency, and...

Calculate the wavelength, frequency, and wave number of a light wave whose period is `2.0 xx10^(-10) s`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Frequency = `1/("Period") = 1/(2.0 xx 10^(-10)S) = 5 xx 10^(9) s^(-1)`
(ii) Wavelength, `lambda = c/(lambda) = (3 xx 10^8 ms^(-1))/(5 xx 10^(9) s^(-1)) = 6.0 xx 10^(-2) m`
(iii) Wave number `barv = 1/lambda = 1/(6.0 xx 10^(-2)) = 16.66 m^(-1)`
