This chemical acts as an oxidising as well as a reducing agent in both acidic and alkaline media. This chemical is important for use in the pollution contral teratment of domestic and industrial effluents .

(i) `H_2O_2` decomposes in the presence of light and dust particles. Therefore, it is stored in wax-lined glass or plastic vessels in the presence of stabilizers like urea. It is also kept away from dust.
