Sunflower is not a single flower but is an aggreggate of several florets. It is a type of inflorescence called capitulum or racemose head. The main axis of peduncle turns flat called as receptacle. Whorl of bracts called involucre is found at the base of receptacle. It bears two types of florets i.e. central disc florets and peripheral ray florets.
