During spermatogenesis in the testes of the mammals, a spermatogonilim (sperm mother cell) undergoes meiosis and forms four daughter cells, called spermatozoa, which are equal in size, while during oogenesis in the ovary of the mammals, an oogonium (egg mother cell) undergoes meiosis and produces one large sized ovum and 2 or 3 small sized polar bodies.
