The procedure of GIFT involves the transfer of female gamete to the fallopian tube. Can gametes be transferred to the uterus to achieve the same result ? Explain.

Same result will not be achieved because:
(i) Site of fertilization is always ampullary isthmatic junction. (ii) Ovum undergoes degeneration or phagocytosis in the uterus. So no viable zygote would be formed.
