What are the probable factors that contributed to population explosion in India ?

(i) Rapid decline in death rate from 44.4 per 1,000 in 1891-1901 to 6.4 per 1,000 in 2001-2011 census due to control of diseases. (ii) Decline in MMR (Maternal maternity rate) and IMR (Infant mortality rate) due to pre-natal and post-natal care measures followed. (iii) Increase in longevity and more and more people survive upto reproductive age due to better sanitation and community health measures. (iv) Increased availability of food grains due to increased use of disease-resistant and high-yielding crop varieties, and use of fertilizers and pesticides.
