Why is nitrogen inert while phosphorus is reactive ?

`N_2 (N -= N)` has high bond energy (945 kJ/ mol) and extremely short bond length but PA has low bond energy and short bond angle, ` therefore N_2` is inert while phosphorus is reactive in nature.
