An unexcited polarised neural membrane is electropositive on outer on inner side. It is more permeable to `K^(+)` ions than `Na^(+)` ions but is impermeable to organic anions. There is high concentration of `Na^(+)` in extracellular fluid than in ide while is electronegative fluid than in axoplasm, while there is high concentration of `K^(+)` in axoplasm than extracellular fluid.
