Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The discharge of human sewage and organic waste from paper and pulp industries and leaves, grass, trash etc. in water result in growth of phytoplanktons. These micro organisms which decompose this organic matter require oxygen. As a result, amount of oxygen in water of lakes, etc., decreases.
