A force of constant magnitude acts on a particle in such a way that it always remains perpendicular to velocity . If motion is taking place in a plane then

A

Velocity of the particle remians constant

B

Acceleration of the particle remains constant

C

Kinetic energy of the particle remains constant

D

Particle moves on a parabolic path

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

We know that direction of velocity as well as acceleeration are continuously changing hence options (a) and (b) are wrong . Since work done by the force is zero hence kinetic energy of the particle does not change hence option (c ) is correct . Since constant force is always acting perpendicular to the velocity hence particle follows a circular path not the parabola .
