Dipole moment of phenol is smaller than that of methanol. Why ?

In phenol, C-O bond is less polar due to electron withdrawing effect of benzene ring. In methanol, C-O bond is more polar due to electron-releasing effect of `-CH_(3)` group. Therefore, phenol is less polar than methanol.
