Explain the transport of O(2) " and " CO...

Explain the transport of `O_(2) " and " CO_(2)` between alveoli and tissue with diagram.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A. Transport of oxygen by blood transports `O_(2)` in two-ways:
(a) About 1- 3 % of cxigen is transported by blood in dissolved form in the plasma of blood (i.e., 0.17 ml. of `O_(2)` per deciliter of blood).
(b) As oxyhaehaemoglobin: About 97-99% of oxygen is transported inside the RBCs in chemical combinatio with heamoglobin to form the oxyhaemoglobin (Process called oxygenation). the extent in `PO_(2)` of alveolar air and decrease in `P_(CO_(2))` of blood. each heamoglobin can maximally bind four molecules of `O_(2)`.
(b) Transport of carbon dioxide by blood: blood transport `CO_(2)` in the threeways:
