Located inside the brai, there is a respiratory rhythm center which regulated the rate of respiration according to the body requirements. It is formed of three respiratory centres:
(i) inspiratory center.
(ii) Expiratory center
(iii) pneumotixac center change in `P_(o_(2))` and `P_(CO_(2))` in the blood are noted by chemoreceptors lacated in carotid and aortic bodies which send desired signals to the respiratory centers. increase in `CO_(2)` level in blood sends excitatory signals to the respiratory centers which increase rate of pulmonary ventilation. increase in `CO_(2)` level lowers the PH which in turn stimulates a chemosensitive area located close to resoiratory rhythm center which sends excitatory signals to the rhythm center.
