Inborn error of metabolism produced due to deficiency of an oxidase enzyme required for breakdown of tyrosine.
In absence of anzyme , tyrosine converted into alcaption or homogentisic acid which accumulates in tissue and joint (causes gout or arthritis).
Alcaption is also excreted in urine, which becomes black in air due to oxidation of alcaption.
