The load arm and effort arm of a lever are 10 cm and 50 cm, respetively. The load and effort are applied on the opposite sides of the fulcrum. Identify the class of the lever. Find its mechanical advantage. If the effort applied is 10 N, how much load can be raised by it?

Since the fulcrum lies in between the load and effort, it is class I lever.
Mechanical advantage (M.A.) of levers is given by,
`M.A. = ("effort arm")/("load arm")=(50cm)/(10cm)`
Thus, mechanical advantage , M.A. = 5.
Given, effort (E)=10N, Load(L)=?
`:. L= E xx M.A.`
`=10xx5=50 N`
