From a rectangular sheet EFGH of metal, two small square shaped pieces, as shown in the figure, are removed. The remaining metal sheet is then heated. What happens to the area of the empty squares ABCD and PQRS? Also explain, what happens to
(i) the distance between the points C and D and
(ii) the distance between point C and S.
