Specific rotation of sugar solution is 0...

Specific rotation of sugar solution is `0.01 SI` units. `200 kg-m^(-3)` of impure sugar solution is taken in a polarimeter tube of length `0.25m` and an optical rotation of `0.4` rad is observed. The percentage of purity of sugar in the sample is

A

0.11

B

0.2

C

0.8

D

0.89

The correct Answer is:
C

Specific rotation,
`alpha=("angle of rotation" (radians),theta)/("length of the tube xx concentration,C")`
`therefore`   `C=(theta)/(alpha.l)`
Here I = 0.25 m, = 0.01, 0 = 0.4 rad,
`rArr`   `C=(0.4)/(0.01xx0.25)=160kg//m^(3)` But 200 kg/ml was taken
`therefore`  purity =`(160)/(200)xx100=80%`

Specific rotation of sugar solution is 0.5 deg m^2 kg^-1 * 200 kg m^-3 of impure sugar solution is taken in a sample polarimeter tube of length 20 cm and optical rotation is found to be 19^@ . The percentage of purity of sugar is

theta is the optical rotation produced by sugar solution of concentration C and taken in a glass tube of length 0.2 m and radius r . Then the solution is transferred to another glass tube of length 0.3 m and radius r and the remaining space is filled with distilled water. The optical rotation produced by this solution is

A cylindrical tube of light 0.2m and radius R with sugar solution of concentration 'C' produce a rotation of theta in the plane of vibration of a plane polarized light. The same sugar solution is transferred to another tube of length 0.3m of same radius. The remaining gap is filled by distilled water. Now the optical rotation produced is

In a polarimeler experiment theta is the angle of rotation produced by a given sugar solution filling the tube. Now the solution is transfered to another tube of twice the length, same diameter and remaining volume is filled with distilled water. Angle of rotation is
