Two tuning forks,A and B produce notes of frequencies 258 Hz and 262 Hz.An unknown note sounded with A produces certain beats. When the same note is sounded with B ,th beat frequeny gets doubled. The unknown frequency

A

250 Hz

B

252 Hz

C

254 Hz

D

256 Hz

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

Here `,v_(A)`=258 Hz,`v_(B)`=262 Hz Let the frequency of unknown tuning fork be v.
It produces `v_(b)` beats with A and `2v_(b)` with B. Therefore,
`v_(A)-v=v_(b)`……….(i)
and `v_(B)-v=2V_(b)`…..(ii)
Substituting the given value ,we get
262-258 =`V_(b)`
`V_(b)`=4Hz
From (i),`v=v_(A)-v_(b)`=(258-4)=254 Hz

When two tunning forks A and B are sounded together , 4 beats per second are heard . The frequency of the fork B is 384 Hz . When one of the prongs of the fork A is filled and sounded with B , the beat frequency increases , then the frequency of the fork A is

A tuning fork A produces 4 beats per second with another tuning fork B of frequency 320 Hz. On filing one of the prongs of A, 4 beats per second are again heard when sounded with the same fork B. Then the frequency of the fork A before filing is

Two sitar stings A and B playing the note 'ga' are slightly out of tune and produce beats of frequency 6Hz. The tension in the string A is slightly reduced and the beat frequency is found to reduce to by 3Hz. If the original frequency of a is 324 Hz, then what is the frequency of B ?
