Consider the following statement regarding the network shown in the figure.

(1)The equivalent resistance of the network between points A and B independent of value of G.
(2)The equivalent resistance of the network between points A and B is `(4)/(3)R`.
(3)The current through G is zero.Which of the above statements is/are true?

A

(1)alone

B

(2)alone

C

(2) and (3)

D

(1),(2) and (3)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

`As(R)/(R )=(2R)/(2R)`.hence the given network ,no a balanced Wheatstone bridge. Therefore ,no current flows through G,So equivalent circuit diagram as shown in the figure.

Hence ,the equivalent resistance of the network between points A and B is
`R_(eq)=((2R)(4R))/(2R+4R)=(4)/(3)R`
