The primary winding of a transformer has...

The primary winding of a transformer has `100` turns and its secondary winding has `200` turns. The primary is connected to an ac supply of `120V` and the current flowing in it is `10A`. The voltage and the current in the secondary are

A

240V, 5A

B

240 V, 10A

C

60 V, 20 A

D

120 V, 20 A

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

`(E_(s))/(E_(p)) = (N_(s))/(n_(p)) or E_(s) = E_(p) xx ((n_(s))/(n_(p)))`
`therefore E_(s) = 120 xx ((200)/(100)) = 240 V`
`(I_(p))/(I_(s)) = (n_(s))/(n_(p)) or I_(s) = I_(p)((n_(p))/(n_(s)))` `therefore I_(s) = 10((100)/(200)) = 5 amp`
