From the Fig. given below, it is obvious when plasmid DNA is cut, it turns linear. However, it fails to form fragments. On the other hand linear DNA when treated with enzyme forms two fragments.
Thus, for plasmid, one DNA band appears and for linear DNA two DNA bands appear
