What would happen when one grows a recombinant bacterium in the biorector but forget to add antibiotic to the medium in which the recombinant is growing?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to antibiotics, other bacteria fail to grow in medium. Thus, bacterium of interest (in absence of antibiotic) may not be able to grow properly. High copy number of plasmids may become a metabolic burden and even plasmid loss may also occur.
