If a marine fish is placed in a fresh water aquarium, will the fish be able to survive? Why or why not?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A marine fish is generally not able to survive in a fresh water aquarium because the body fluid concentration of marine fish is much higher than that of fresh water. Rapid endosmosis occurs which increases the blood volume and blood pressure to such a level that causes the death of fish .
