An orchid plant is growing on the branch of mango tree. How do you describe this interaction between the orchid and the mango tree?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In such interspecific intraction, orchid grows as an epiphyte on the branch of a mango tree and derives the benefit of habitat only but derives no nutrition from the mango tree. In this, though orchid is benefitted but the mango tree is neither benefitted nor harmed. Such an interaction is called commensalism.
