Distinguish between intracellular and extracellular digestion?

Intercellular digestion, also called vacuolar digestion, occurs in a food vacuole inside the cell and is found in lower animal groups like protozoans and sponges. Extracellular digestion, also called intercellular digestion, occurs in the lumen of alimentary canal of higher animals like annelids, crustaceans, Insects, cephalopods and vertebrates.
